Perennial, stems up to 1,5 m, ± puberulent. Cauline leaves 2 x longer than broad or less, ovate-cordate to ovate-lanceolate, the lower petiolate, 3-5-nerved. Inflorescence a compound dichasium. Calyx 15-20 mm, inflated in flower and fruit, greenish, puberulous, glabrescent in fruit. Petals white, the claw exserted, the lamina fimbriate. Anthophore glabrous, 3-4 mm. Capsule 8-11 mm, included in the calyx. Fl. 7-9. Shady places, 1600-3000 m.
