 Bulb depressed-globose. Stem hollow, tapering from inflated lower part. Leaves almost semicircular in transverse section. Spathe persistent, often 3-valved. Perianth stellate; segments greenish-white, 3-4 mm. Stamens exserted; inner filaments with a small tooth at base on each side. Fl. 6-8. Cultivated. 

Cultivated for its edible bulbs . Unknown in the wild state but possibly derived from A. oschaninii from C. Asia.
