Loosely tufted low perennial, ± densely covered with glandular and eglandular hairs, with much branched woody rhizome, stems numerous, branched, 2-15 cm, prostrate, decumbent. Leaves small, 2-7 x 0,2-1,3 mm, linear-setaceous to linear-lanceolate, acute to obtuse, ± fasciculate, pubescent to glabrescent. Bracts leaf-like, loose, not adpressed, as long as or shorter than the calyx. Flowers solitary in the axils of the upper leaves or in terminal loose few-flowered dichasial inflorescences. Calyx tubular-campanulate, glandular hairy, 3-3,5 mm, pedicellate or rarely sessile, teeth short, ovate-oblong, acute to obtuse. Petals white to pink with purple veins, linear-cuneate, obtuse, 5-7 mm. Ovary c. 20-ovuled. Capsule oblong. Seeds with flat tubercles. Fl. 6-8. Alpine meadows, 1800-2500 m.
