Glabrous, somewhat glaucous perennial. Stems several, to 45 cm, stiffly erect, simple, arising from caudiculi on a small woody stock. Cauline leaves oblanceolate to linear-lanceolate or linear, 10-25 x 1-5 mm, acute to obtuse, subentire. Ray-leaves linear-lanceolate to lanceolate. Raylet-leaves ovate to ovate-rhombic or rhombic, 5-13 x 2-8 mm, rounded or more usually cuneate at base. Rays 3, not or once dichotomous, short, rarely exceeding 1.5 cm; axillary rays absent. Fruit trilobate, 2.5 mm diam., smooth. Seeds ovoid, subtetragonous, 1.5-2 mm, irregularly minutely pitted, pale grey, pits often darker grey. Fl. 6. Shady ridges and valleys, pathsides, 400-1200 m.
