Pilose or somewhat villous caespitose perennial. Stems several, to 80 cm, arising from a stout woody rootstock. Cauline and ray-leaves oblong, oblong-lanceolate or oblong-oblanceolate, 4-8 x 1-2 cm, obtuse, minutely serrulate. Raylet-leaves ovate to elliptic-ovate, 1-3 x 0.5-1.8 cm, rounded at base. Rays 5, once or twice trichotomous; axillary rays 0-1. Fruit trilobate-subglobose, 3-4 mm diam., with low hemispherical warts, glabrous. Seeds ovoid, 2-2.5 mm, smooth, shiny, brown. Fl. 5. Damp meadows, dry micaschist hillsides in macchie, s.l.-1200 m.
