Perennial with a stout woody stock. Stems procumbent, 10-20 cm, leaves usually distant, overlapping only at the base. Ochreae hyaline, conspicuous. Leaves elliptic to suborbicular, not mucronate. Bracts not much smaller than the leaves. Inflorescence a lax, elongate spike. Perianth whitish, c. 2 mm. Nut trigonous, shining. Fl. 8-9. Rocky slopes, 2000-2200 m.
