Incanous, scabrid-hirsute, rarely puberulent semi-shrub. Stems 15-35 cm, numerous, prostrate to ascending, somewhat angular, branched,with divaricate to erect branches. Leaves 6-15 x 0.5-1 mm, linear, acuminate to aristate, with 0.3-0.7 mm hyaline apex and strongly revolute margins, somewhat spreading to recurved, firm. Inflorescence with ± compact, sessile to shortly pedunculate verticillasters in interrupted spike-like thyrses. Bracts 2-6 mm, ovate, abruptly acuminate to lanceolate-aristate, with distinct hyaline margins, somewhat connate at base. Corolla White, 4-5 mm, infundibular, ± scabrid-hispid outside; lobes oblong, acute, spreading and nearly as long as tube. Ovary papillose. Fl. 6-7. Steppe hills, on limestone marl or gypsum, 700-1500 m.
