Glabrous herb c. 30 cm. Stems stout, flexuous, unbranched, leafy, arising from woody stock. Leaves sessile and amplexicaul, broadly ovate to suborbicular, up to 12x10 cm, coriaceous and prominently reticulate-veined. Capitula borne on 2-4 cm peduncles, each subtended by a leaf. Involucre subglobose, c. 1 cm long; phyllaries 4-5-seraite, adpressed, ovate-acuminate, somewhat villous. Flowers purple? Pappus hairs barbellate. Fl. 7.
