Densely grey or yellowish sericeous perennials· with thick somewhat woody rootstocks. Flowering stems unbranched, 1-headed, 10-20 cm, bearing a few leaves generally near base. Leaves 2-pinnatisect, oblong or obovate in outline, 2-7 cm, borne on petioles c. ½ as long as laminar portion, primary segments 3-10-paired, ± contiguous or conferted, bearing 3-7 linear acute secondary segments 4-6 x 0,5 mm. Capitula always radiate; involucre 1-1,3 cm broad; phyllaries dark brown- or blackish-margined, outer lanceolate, 5 x 1,5 mm, inner oblanceolate, obtuse, 7 x 2,5-3 mm, with wide brown scarious apices. Ligules 15-30, yellow, 0,8-1,2 x 3,5-6 mm. Disc corollas yellow, 4 mm. Paleae membranous, lanceolate, brown at apex. Achenes 2,5 mm, greyish, 5-ribbed, truncate above with a sharp margin; corona absent. Fl. 7-8. In igneous crevices, screes andslopes and in turf, 1900-3100 m.
