Scapes erect, 30-50 cm tall. Leaves imparipinnate, long-petioled. Leaflets opposite or in whorls of 3 or 4, sessile, cuneate-oblong to cuneate-obovate; apex usually deeply 2-3-lobed, and with reddish blotches at the base. Inflorescence much branched, lax, branches and the long pedicels ascending. Sepals 3-6, caducous, reddish. Petals yellow. Pod ovate-elliptic, scarious, inflated and grooved, rupturing irregularly at the tip. Fl. 4-5. Fallow fields, 650-1170 m.
