Bulb solitary, new bulb forming beside old; tunics pale brown, not forming a fibrous sheath. Basal leaves 2, emerging in spring, linear, 1-2 mm broad, glabrous, erect, equalling or shorter than inflorescence. Inflorescence corymbose, 5-10 cm, glabrous. Cauline leaves 2-3, alternate, shorter than inflorescence, linear-lanceolate, 2-4 cm; 1 bract subtending each branch. Pedicels elongating to 3.5-5 cm in fruit. Flowers 1-3; buds nodding. Perianth segments yellow, with 3 greenish veins, oblanceolate, 8-10 x 2-2.5 mm, not elongating in fruit, acute. Capsule broadly oblanceolate, emarginate. Fl. 4-5. Wet places and coniferous woods, 1200-2100 m.
