Perennial with branched rootstock. Stems numerous, 15-40 cm, straggling to ascending, ± branched, distinctly quadrangular, often slightly puberulent towards base, glabrous above. Leaves 10-25 x 3-7 mm, oblanceolate-spathulate to narrowly obovate, obtuse, narrowed into a petiole-like base, thin, with 1 main vein, often scabridulous along vein and  somewhat revolute margins or entirely glabrous, lowest usually somewhat puberulent. Inflorescence ± corymbifotm, with capitate 10-15-flowered partial inflorescences on c. 1-4 cm peduncles. Pedicels absent or very short. Bracts to 6 mm, oblanceolate to oblong-elliptic, smooth, glabrous. Corolla white to pale pink, 5-7 mm, infundibular, with tube 2-4 x as long as the ovate, spreading lobes, 1.2-2.5 mm. Stamens exserted, with yellow, oblong anthers, 0.7-0.8 mm. Style strongly exserted. Mericarps 1.5-2 mm, ovoid, granulate, glabrous. Fl. 5-9. Deciduous and mixed forests; clearings, 200-2000 m.
