Plants small, 10-15 cm. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, rosulate, 4-7. Flowers 2-5, small. Sepals broadly ovate, ± concave, obtuse, green, 8-10 mm. Petals triangular-oblong, 4-5 mm, ± reflexed, velvety, greenish-brown. Labellum suborbicular, deeply 3-lobed, somewhat saccate at base;lateral lobes strongly bent downwards and backwards, forming obtuse, villous, dark brown cones; middle lobe pearly glabrous, margins strongly recurved, with inverted fleshy appendix at apex, not visible from above; speculum indistinctly scutelliform, hazy dingy bluish-violet. Fl. 3-5. Macchie, phrygana, olive groves, damp grassland, Asphodelus pasture, often on sandy and loamy soil, s.I.-450 m.
