Erect, branched perennial, softly pubescent below, 35-80 cm. Lower leaves oblong-ovate, 8-15 x 2-5 cm, 1-pinnate; pinnae ovate, 0,5-2 cm, pinnatifid to deeply pinnatisect, ultimate segments cuneate, toothed. Upper leaves much reduced, few. Rays 6-10, equalling or shorter than bracts. Bracts c. 5, ovate to ± orbicular, 4-7 x 2,5-6 mm. Bracteoles c. 6, unequal, ovate to elliptic-orbicular, not hardening in fruit, 1-6 x 0,5-5 mm. Pedicels 6-10, shorter than bracteoles. Two outer sepals of outer flowers ± ovate, spreading, shining, yellowish, 1,5-3 x 1-2 mm. 'Fruit' ± oblong, c. 7 x 3-4 mm, with persistent calyx lobes and bracteoles, styles c. 3 mm. Fl. 8. Igneous slopes, 1100-1700 m.
