Biennial, rarely annual, stems 20-100 cm, sub-simple or branched from the base. Basal leaves rosette-forming, soon withering, petiolate, lyrate; upper leaves ± sessile, simple or sub-simple. Petals 8 x 3 mm. Fruiting pedicels 3-4 mm, club-like; pedicels and fruit tightly adpressed to stem. Fruit glabrous or with a few scattered hairs, 12-15 mm, obscurely 3-nerved when mature; beak c. 3-6 x 11,5 mm, 0- or 1-seeded; basal part 7-9 x 1-1,5 mm, 3-9-seeded. Seeds reddish-brown, mucilaginous. Fl. 5-7. Fields and waste ground, s.l.-900 m.
