Tall, climbing, glabrous perennial. Stems winged, 0,6-2 m. Leaves with branched tendrils; leaflets 1-paired, linear to lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, 40-150 x 5-20 mm; stipules lanceolate-subulate, semi-sagittate, less than ½ as wide as stem. Peduncles 3-12-flowered, as long as or longer than leaves. Calyx 5-7 mm; teeth very unequal, the upper pair short and broadly triangular, the lowest narrowly lanceolate and slightly shorter than tube. Corolla purplish pink, 13-20 mm. Legume as in L. rotundifolius and L. undulatus, 40-80 x8-10 mm. Seeds 10-15, reticulate-rugose, hilum 1/3-1/2  of perimeter. Fl. 4.
Most of Europe, N.W. Africa, Caucasia. Euro-Sib. element.
