Ascending herb, c. 25 cm, densely pubescent. Lower leaves to 40 cm, shortly petiolate; lamina 8-30 cm broad, deeply 2-pinnatifid, pinnules incised, white-spinose, costa and veins conspicuously or minutely ciliate on upper surface, glabrescent and whitish beneath. Bracts elliptic-oblanceolate, ovate-acuminate, dentate-spinose, recurved, 5-veined. Bracteoles linear-subulate. Corolla white, minutely pubescent outside, glabrous within. Style glabrous; ovary pilose at apex; capsule papillose. Fl. 5-6. Pinus brutia forest, macchie, steep slopes, cultivated fields, 50-610 m.
