Annual, 5-25 cm, branched from the base, often decumbent, smelling of bad fish. Leaves 1-2,5 x 1-2,5 cm, rhomboid or ovate, entire or with a single toothlike angle on each margin at the broadest part, mealy beneath. Inflorescence a small terminal or axillary panicle. Perianth segments rounded on the back. Seeds with faint radial furrows and irregular thickenings between them. FI. 5-7. Waste places, in the streets of towns and villages, preferring localities rich in nitrates, s.I.-1250 m.
