Bulb ovoid or globose, 1.2-2 cm diam.; outer tunics blackish, membranous. Stem 20-50 cm. Leaves 1-3, lorate-lanceolate, 2-20 mm broad. Spathe 2-valved; valves broadly ovate. Umbel fastigiate-hemispherical or spherical, 2.5-5 cm diam., rather lax. Pedicels subequal, 2-6 x perianth. Perianth stellate; segments white or cream tinged pink, rosy-lilac, pale mauve or pale rosy-violet, narrowly oblong or narrowly elliptic, c. 5 mm, obtuse, later reflexed and twisted. Filaments connate into an annulus at base, narrowly triangular at base, narrowed above into a subulate filament c. as long as perianth segments; base of inner filaments nearly twice as broad as base ofouter ones. Anthers yellow or mahogany. Capsule ovoid, c. 5 mm. Fl. 5-6. Open meadows, stony slopes anqloose scree, deep heavy loam and cultivated land, field margins, 770-2450 m.
