Bulb ovoid or globose, 1-2 cm diam.; outer tunics black, membranous, prolonged into a long collar; inner tunics yellowish, coriaceous. Stem 10-15 cm, thick, curved in lower part, bearing leaves to 3/4 of its length or nearly up to umbel; sometimes 2 stems arising from same bulb. Leaves 2-3, fistulose, 1 mm broad, as long as or longer than stem; sheaths distinctly ribbed. Valves of spathe as long as or longer than umbel, lanceolate from a broader base. Umbel hemispherical, 1.5-3 cm diam., many-flowered, dense. Pedicels 1.5-2 x perianth, subequal. Perianth campanulate; segments pinkish-purple, with darker midvein, elliptic, 4 mm, obtuse. Filaments narrowly lanceolate from a broader base, exserted. Anthers yellow. Ovary globose-triquetrous, slightly stipitate; style exserted. Capsule globose, 4 mm. Fl. 7. Mountain slopes on marble.
