Shrub 2-3 m, or small tree up to 6 m, often galled. Leaves deciduous, imparipinnate or paripinnate; leaflets 2-4-paired, ovate-oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 3-7 x 1,8-3 cm, obtuse, acute or acuminate, always mucronate, glabrous, dark green above, paler beneath, terminal leaflet not broader than the lateral ones, often much reduced, even to a bristle; rachis not winged, glabrous. Fruits paniculate, globose or broadly obovate, 5-6 x 4-6 mm. Two subspecies may be recognised, though intermediates are rather common in Turkey.
