Erect annual, 25-80 cm, stem thick. Cauline leaves 3-8 cm, obovate to elliptic, usually perfoliate near base. Upper leaves ovate to orbicular, green. Rays 4-8, usually 6 in strong umbels. Bracteoles 5, unequal but not of separate classes, 5-15 mm, all apiculate. Petals light yellow, 0,4-0,5 mm. Anthers c. 0,35 mm. Stylopodium 0,9-1,2 mm, styles 0,2-0,3 mm. Fruit 3-3,5 mm, smooth, ridges filiform or very narrow. 2n = 16. Fl. 6-7. Fields, banks, steppe , 400-2000m.
S.W. Asia, C., S. & W. Europe; worldwide distribution as casual. Perhaps an Anatolian native, distributed as a segetal weed westwards.
