Rootstock oblong or fusiform-cylindrical. Stems filiform, simple or branched, flaccid. Leaves ovate-oblong, 10-30 x 5-25 mm, obtuse or retuse, base cordate or subquadrate, puberulent at least when young; petiole 1-10 mm. Peduncles as long as petioles. Perianth to 3.5 cm, brown or dusky purple outside; utricle 2-4 mm broad; tube straight, 1-2 mm broad at base, striped and glabrous outside; limb at least twice as long as tube, linear-lanceolate, acute or obtuse, greenish, heavily marked with maroon or violet-brown stripes. Ovary glabrous to puberulous. Capsule globose, 5-20 mm diam. Fl. 3-5. Quercus woods, basalt screes, limestone rocks and crevices, s.l.-1100 m.
