Rootstock globose or ovoid, often irregular. Stems 15-5,0 cm tall, simple, rarely branched, hirtellous. Leaves cordate-ovate, 3-10,5 x 2,5-7 cm, subsessile , auricles embracing the stern. Perianth 3,5 cm, yellowish or brownish pink outside; utricle 4-7 x 3-4 mm; tube straight, 2-3 cm broad at base, scarcely dilated above; limb as long as tube, oblong, to 5 mm broad, obtuse, dark brown, with purple striations in throat. Ovary puberulous to pubescent. Capsule globose, c. 1,5 cm diam. Fl. 4. Pinus brutia - P. nigra forest.
C. & S. Europe. Nearly related to A. pallida.
