Erect or scrambling, lax 'feathery' herb to 2 m. Branches patent , compound, weakly zig-zag. Spur 2-6 mm. Cladodes 8-10 per lax fascicle, incurved-patent or flexuous, filiform and terete, 6-18 x 0.1-0.15 mm, green acute. Flowers 1-3 per cladode fascicle, in branch axils. Pedicels 8-15 mm, articulate near middle. Male perianth 4.5-5.5 mm, cream with greenish or brownish fascia. Anthers 1-1.3 mm. Berry red, c. 10 mm. Fl. 5-7. Stony slopes, river banks, hedges, vineyards, fields, nr s.l.-1480 m.
