Similar to B. sarmatica in habit and colour but differing in smaller perianth, 5-6 mm, with relatively shorter lobes; pedicels often deflexed towards end of flowering, 2.5-3.5 cm in fruit; valves of capsule 10mm, more cordate. Fl. 5-6. Stony hilltops, eroded shady slopes in Pinus brutia forest, fields, 600-1500 m.
Endemic. Ir.-Tur. element. Apparently related to B. sarmatica.
