Bulb ovoid, 1-2 x 0.8-1.5 cm; tunic brown or fuscous. Leaves usually 2, dark green or tinged bronze, erect or spreading. Scapes generally solitarY, 7-20 cm, 4-12-flowered. Pedicels erecto-patent, 1-7 cm. Bracts inconspicuous, caducous, subulate, membranous, 0.5-2 mm. Flowers slightly nodding. Perianth rich blue without a paler central zone; segments at first erecto-patent, recurving with age, 8-10 x 2-4 cm, tube subglobose, 3-5 mm diam. Filaments white, alternately 2 and 3 mm; anthers yellow or bluish, 2-3 x 0.8 mm. 2n = 18. Fl. 3-4. Pinus woods, damp north-facing mountain slopes, c. 550 m.
