Bulb 0.8-1.5 cm diam. Leaves 2-6, patent in upper half,linear-oblanceolate, 5-20 cm x 1.5-4 mm, somewhat canaliculate, upper surface glaucous. Scape 4-9 cm, often purplish and overtopping leaves. Raceme ± densely ovoid, 1-2.5 cm x 12-16 mm. Pedicels of fertile flowers horizontal or deflexed, only 0.5-2 mm. Fertile flowers tubular or tubular-campanulate, 6-8 x 2.5-3.5 mm , tube blackish-blue or dark blackish-violet except for a 1-2 mm distal whitish band below lobes, not or scarcely constricted above; lobes 0.5-1 mm, white, tips recurved. Stamens sub-biseriate, attached in lower 1/3 of tube. Sterile flowers, if present, obovoid, violet and paler. Capsule unknown. Fl. 3-4. Steppe, 900-1100 m.
