Plant 20-50 cm. Rhizome erect. Fronds tufted. Petiole less than ½ length of frond, channelled above, with membranous, narrowly lanceolate scales. Lamina simple, strap-shaped, base cordate. Sori arranged in pairs along neighbouring veins, oblique, 1-2 cm, indusium membranous, continuous along the outer side of indusium pairs. Spores ripe 5-8. In Abies,Fagus and Ostrya forest, and shady cliffs, s.I.-2100 m.
