Dwarf perennial. Flowering stems 1-3 cm, white-tomentose. Leaves elliptic-oblanceolate, 20-35 x 5-18 mm, attenuate at base, acute at apex, floccose above, white-tomentose beneath, margins entire, crisped. Involucre campanulate, 1-1,5 x 1 cm; outer phyllaries ovate-oblong, 4 x 2,5 mm, inner lanceolate, 6-10 x 1,5-2,5 mm, becoming scarious and purplish at apex. Marginal paleae 8-9 mm. Flowers lilac, 9-11 mm. Achenes 3,5-4 mm. Pappus 8-10 mm. Fl. 8. Limestone rock crevices, 1800-2000 m.
