Stems 15-35 cm, divaricately branched above, whitish pubescent and minutely glandular. Leaves elliptic-oblanceolate, acute, entire, pubescent and glandular on both surfaces; basal 3-10 x 0,6-1 cm, attenuate, subpetiolate, densely hirsute at base; cauline sessile, 2-4,5 x 0,5-1,25 cm. Peduncles 3-10 cm, becoming thickened at maturity. Involucre 1-1,25 cm broad; outer phyllaries foliaceous, oblanceolate or spathulate, 6-10 x 2-3 mm; inner ones linear, acuminate, 4-6 x 0,3-0,5- mm, cartilaginous, often with herbaceous tips, whitish-pubescent and glandular. Paleae linear-setaceous, 3,5-4 mm, glandular. Flowers all hermaphrodite, corollas 3-3,5 mm, glandular. Achenes pale brown, c. 1,5 mm, minutely pubescent especially near apex. Pappus absent. Fl. 7-8. In wooded or shrubby valley beds, 450-1525 m.
