Acaulescent or subacaulescent, greyish-green plants; stem simple or branched. Leaves usually crowded under cluster of capitula, linear-oblong to linear-lanceolate, pointed, longer than cluster. Clusters of capitula 7-12 mm broad. Paleae 4-5 mm, with fine yellowish or straw-coloured 1-1,5 mm arista. Achenes 0,8-1,1 mm, oblong-obovoid, distinctly papillose. Fl. 3-5. Dry open places, fallow fields.
