Plant lanate, eglandular, suffruticose, 10-60 cm. Stems branched, woody, bearing rosettes of young leaves. Leaves oblong-oblanceolate, 25-65 x 2-14 mm. Capitula numerous, hemispherical, 5-8 mm. Phyllaries obtuse, loosely imbricate, bright yellow . Marginal flowers female. Fl. 3-6. Limestone cliffs, macchie and Pinus brutia woods on serpentine, 30-700 m.
