Leaves grey-tomentose; basal and lower lyrate, terminal segment broadly lanceolate to ovate or nearly orbicular , 2-5 pairs of smaller lateral segments of variable form , rarely with intermixed small lobes, median and upper with fewer lateral segments or undivided, Involucre 13-19x10-15 mm. Appendages ovate-lanceolate, concealing basal part of phyllaries, not decurrent, brown, with 10-18 white 1.5-2.5 mm cilia on each side, terminal shorter. Flowers rose-purple, marginal scarcely radiant. Achenes 4-5 mm; pappus 1-2 mm, inner row shortest. Fl. 6-7. Rocks and screes, 1900-3000 m.
