Scabrid-setose perennial, with a thick root. Stems 10-25 cm, branching from base into a subdivaricate inflorescence. Basal leaves oblong, to 20 x 4 cm; cauline shorter and narrower, lanceolate, shortly decurrent. Calyx 5-8 mm, divided to c. 1/3 , lobes triangular; fruiting calyx to 12 mm. Corolla yellow, 8-11 mm, narrowly infundibular, limb erecto-patent, 4-7 mm diam.; scales and throat long hairy; annulus.glabrous. Anthers 2 mm. Nutlets transversely ovoid; 4 x 5-7 mm, puberulent, reticulate, basal part narrowed, upper expanded, beak lateral, basal ring with 15-18 teeth. Fl. 4-6. Fallow fields, meadows, vineyards, roadsides, steppe, 750-1900 m.
Endemic. Ir.-Tur. element. Probably related to N. stenosolen.
