Perennial, densely caespitose. Stems 1-several, 12-18 cm, erect to ascending, simple, densely patent-setose, setae arising from either glabrous or stellate-hairy tubercles; shortly hairy. Leaves 15-50 x 3-5 mm, linear-spathulate to linear-oblong, acute to subobtuse, greyish to whitish with dense adpressed to subpatent setae, otherwise glabrous; basal subsessile. Inflorescence usually a solitary, terminal, ± capitate cyme. Bracts narrowly linear to linear-Ianceolate, shorter than calyx. Flowers subsessile. Calyx 8-12 mm, lobes linear, acute, densely adpressed-setose, scarcely accrescent in fruit. Corolla pale yellow to whitish, 13-18 mm, cylindrical to cylindrical-campanulate, glabrous or puberulous. Anthers included, slightly shorter than filaments. Nutlets 3-3,5 mm, ovoid-triquetrous with a slightly curved beak. Fl. 4.
