Annual, 20-60 cm, branching above the middle into a loose inflorescence with rather stiff branches. Leaves entire, oblong or oblanceolate, amplexicaul, auriculate, rounded or acute at apex. Petals 4-5 mm. Fruiting pedicel 3-5 x2 mm. Fruit 6-8 x 5 mm, 3-celled; the upper two - the 'shoulders' of the fruit – empty , the lower containing the one seed. Fl. 4-6. Roadsides and cultivated land, s.l.-1000 m.
