Annual to biennial. Stems erect, up to 90 cm, sparsely stellate-pilose below, glabrous above. Rosette leaves runcinate-dentate, with an indumentum of forked hairs; stems leaves ovate-lanceolate, entire, auriculate, glabrous. Petals pale yellow, 5-6 mm. Siliquae strict, stiff, up to 80 mm x 1 mm, ± truncate at the apex. Fl. 4-7. Rocks, ledges, banks, etc., 200-2300 m.
Most of Europe, Caucasia, Cyprus, Afghanistan, Turkestan.
