Hirsute, scabrid biennial or perennial. Plant 1-stemmed, erect, to 60 cm or many-stemmed with main stem evidently more robust. Basal leaves oblong-ovate with long petiole, sparingly lobulate, attenuate. Inflorescence elongate, paniculate, with greatly shortened lateral branches. Calyx lobes triangular, ± ½ length of corolla tube. Appendages ovate, wholly concealing ovary. Corolla narrowly cylindrical, tube to 10 mm. Fl. 6. Steppe, c. 1200 m.
