Erect perennial up to 70 cm with stems glabrous to reflexed-setose below, setose and pubescent above. Lower leaves petiolate, oblong to elliptic, acute, entire, rarely crenate, setose or pubescent or ± glabrous. Upper leaves ovate to lanceolate, amplexicaul. Peduncles glandular-hairy or not. Involucral bracts 14-20, ovate to lanceolate, pilose and pubescent, glandular hairy or not. Capitula 2-3,5 cm diam., radiant. Corolla yellow or cream, rarely mauve. Involucel 4,5-6 mm, pilose, apex with minute teeth. Calyx with 8-10 setae. FI. 7-8. Rocky slopes, scrub and open woodland, 1000-2700 m.
