Annual with slender, branched, pubescent and setose stems up to 40 cm. All leaves pinnatisect with linear segments, terminal segment much longer than lateral ones. Involucral bracts 5-7, linear-lanceolate, acute, equal to or exceeding flowers. Capitula 1,5-2,5 cm diam., radiant; flowers deep violet, outer ones with spathulate petals. Fruiting head spherical. Involucel 2 mm, shortly adpressed-hairy, pits elliptic, ½  as long as tube, ribs between pits sulcate; corona c. 1 mm with c. 20 excurrent nerves. Calyx shortly stipitate, glabrous within; setae c. 6mm. Fl. 6. Fields.
