Height 7-14 cm, leaves usually withered in ripe fruit, 12-30 x 2-9 mm. Inflorescence ± obconic, condensed, the fruiting branches often becoming thickened and inflated. Bracts often obscured, the lower ± herbaceous, linear, 4-5 x 1-2 mm. Flowers bluish to lilac. Fruit deciduous, 3-3,2 x 1,5-2,5 mm, sometimes turning bluish when very ripe. Fl. 4-5. Scree, scrub and forest, 200-1300m.
