Like A. balansae but sparsely puberulent on stems and pedicels and ciliate on petioles; leaves broadly elliptic to suborbicular up to 1.5 x longer than broad, rounded at apex, abruptly contracted into a short petiole; inflorescence up to 5-flowered; sepals 3-4 mm, the outer lanceolate, slightly longer than petals; capsule broadly  ovoid to subglobose, about as long as calyx; seeds 0,5-0,8 mm. FI. 6-8. Among rocks, often by streams or in shade, 1000-2750 m.
Greece, Caucasus. Subsp. pancicii  McNeill, with narrower leaves and longer petals, occurs in Macedonia and Bulgaria.
