Perennial, 12-75 cm. Lower cauline leaves 1-2,5 mm wide, narrowed from the base into a long acute apex. Inner bracteoles broadly ovate, aristate, up to ½ the calyx length, lower part enervate, verruculose, upper part nervose, margin membranous about 0,5 mm wide, points sometimes setaceous. Calyx 8-15 x 2,5-5 mm, subcylindrical, narrowed slightly above, verruculose, teeth lanceolate, often long-mucronate. Petal limb cuneate to obovate-cuneate, barbulate, 4-10 mm, deeply dentate, pink with dark striations.

Distribution of the species: W. Syria. The variation found in D. strictus needs biosystematic study.
