Perennial with woody caudex, many sterile shoots and several erect, pubescent, papillose or glabrescent stems 15-40 cm. Leaves linear, fleshy, triquetrous or flat, acute, 10-30 x 0,5-2,5 mm, glabrous, smooth, scabrous-papillose or puberulent. Inflorescence a strict oblong panicle with many branches, bearing congested, many-flowered cymules. Bracts ± scarious, lanceolate. Pedicels 0,5-5 mm. Calyx campanulate, 2-2,5 mm, with ovate, obtuse, apiculate teeth, densely covered with long spreading flat, papilla-like hairs. Petals white, 3-4mm, linear-oblong, obtuse, truncate or shallowly emarginate. Seeds with flat tubercles. Fl. 6-8. Gypsum banks, steppes, 650-1550 m.
Endemic; Ir.-Tur. element. A very distinct species, characterised by the congested, many-flowered, densely hairy cymules.
