Usually annual. Stems much branched, ascending or decumbent, 3-10 cm. Stipules ovate. Leaves usually in whorls of 4, obovate to spathulate, shortly petiolate, glabrous. Inflorescence usually much-branched. Sepals green, 1,5-2,3 m. Petals emarginate. Stamens 3-5. Seeds usually less than 0,5 m. Fl. 3-7. Cliffs, rocky & gravelly places, fields, waste ground, s.I.-1000 m.
