Annual. Stems 10-45cm, usually erect, often branched, hirsute to hispidulous, often glandular above. Lower leaves petiolate, oblong-spathulate, obtuse or mucronate; cauline leaves sessile, oblanceolate to lanceolate. Flowers shortly pedicellate, in strict, subsecund monochasia. Calyx 9-11 mm, 10-veined, with a dimorphic indumentum of long, multicellular hairs and shorter glandular hairs. Petals white or pink, sometimes with conspicuous red spots in the centres, the limb entire to emarginate. Anthophore 1-1·5 mm. Capsule ovoid-conical, included in the calyx. FI. 4-6.
