Annual. Stems erect, branched, up to 30 cm, finely crisped-pubescent. Leaves spathulate to obovate, the basal ± petiolate, the cauline sessile with sterile shoots in their axils, all ± mucronate, pubescent. Inflorescence a monochasium, the flowers distant. Calyx greenish, cylindrical, with 10 richly anastomosing nerves, 7-10 mm, finely pubescent. Petals white or livid. Anthophore very short . Capsule oblong-cylindrical, included in the calyx. Seed with an obtusely grooved, tuberculate back. Fl. 5-6. Sandy places, s.I.-200 m.
