Annual or perennial climbing or trailing herb. Leaves herbaceous, ovate, sometimes broadly so, with cordate base. Pedicels and calyx tube densely villous, hairs golden, patent. Flowers usually solitary; corolla pinkish-purple or blue, 5-8,5 cm.
Apparently frequently grown in gardens and sometimes escaping. Widely naturalized in S. Europe.
