Plant up to 150 cm. Fronds dying in winter. Petiole up to ½ length of lamina, pale brown or straw-coloured, with scattered, pale-brown scales, lamina ovate-acuminate, 2-pinnate, rachis sparsely clad with scales or naked, not dark at junction with main rachis. Pinnules oblong, rounded at apex, minutely toothed to pinnatifid, with up to 7 pairs of sori. Indilsium reniform, glabrous, not covering the sporangia. Spores ripe 6-9. In Abies-Fagus forest, in rocky gulleys, 1000-1100 m.
